The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that an autopsy found no link between Ifayomi Oba Edu Jogbodo Orunmila and the death of 22-year-old Afrofuji singer, Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy.
Police spokesperson DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi said investigators ordered the autopsy after public concern over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death. A consultant anatomic pathologist conducted the examination.
According to the police, the autopsy revealed toxic levels of tramadol, methamphetamine, and their metabolites in the singer’s system. The report concluded that Destiny Boy died from aspiration pneumonitis caused by ingesting these substances. It also confirmed January 17, 2026, as the official date of death.
Destiny Boy rose to fame in 2019 after his Fuji-style cover of Davido’s ‘If’ went viral. He later released several songs, including ‘Lamba,’ ‘One Transaction,’ ‘Gbese,’ ‘Billion Dollar,’ ‘Mio Gbonkankan,’ and ‘Lowkey.’
His death had sparked widespread reactions and calls for investigation. He is survived by his partner, Iremide, and their child, born in November 2024.
