Arsenal set multiple records on Tuesday after defeating Atletico Madrid 1-0 to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League final.
Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the second-leg semi-final, sealing the Gunners’ victory over the LaLiga side.
According to Opta, the win sends Arsenal into their first Champions League final since 2006. It marks the longest gap between finals for a club in the competition since Atletico Madrid’s 40-year wait, and the longest for an English team since Liverpool’s 20-year gap in 2005.
Arsenal have also become the first team to go unbeaten in their opening 14 matches of a single Champions League campaign.
In addition, Mikel Arteta’s side have equalled their club record for most wins in a single season, reaching 41 victories across all competitions — matching the total set during the 1970-71 campaign.
Arsenal will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in the final.
