Nigerian Entertainment Today, Netng have proudly unveiled the seventh edition of NET Honours. On Friday, December 15, 2023, the organization released the people’s choice award nominees marking another year of recognizing achievements in the African entertainment industry.
Scheduled for Friday, December 22, 2023, the NET Honours will showcase the brilliance of some of Africa’s most celebrated personalities. Organizers are promising awe-inspiring surprises around every corner, making this edition particularly noteworthy.
Data-Driven Nominations
In keeping with tradition, nominations for these prestigious awards are entirely data-driven. According to Netng, The selection process involved a meticulous analysis of audience searches, engagements, and trends across ID Africa’s owned media channels, including Netng, Neusroom, 234Star, and Orin.
Empowering Entertainment Enthusiasts
African entertainment enthusiasts will once again wield the power to cast their votes for the celebrities who have left an indelible mark over the past year. Out of the 24 categories honoring celebrities, public figures, and events shaping Africa’s pop culture, fans will have a say in 18 of them.
Iretomiwa Akintunde-Johnson, ID Africa’s Regional Manager for West Africa, emphasized the impact of Net Honours on Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
“As the African entertainment landscape continues to witness astronomical growth, Nigeria remains at the forefront of its groundbreaking global achievements.”
“It’s important for us to play a role in chronicling this time in our history, rewarding the incredible contributions of these personalities, ” she further explained
Diverse Categories and Notable Nominees
This year’s voting categories have expanded to include more nominations, introducing an exciting twist to the competition. Leading the pack with three nominations each in various categories are multi-award-winning artistes Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. Ayra Starr, Tems, and Tiwa Savage secured two nominations each, demonstrating the diversity of talent in the Most Popular Music Artiste (Female) and Most Searched Music Artiste (Female) categories.
Other notable nominees include Rema, maintaining a global music presence, and Asake, YBNL’s rising star, competing alongside industry giants in the Most Popular Music Artiste category. In the Most Popular Actor category, Tobi Bakre, Kunle Remi, Femi Adebayo, Daniel Etim Effiong, and Timini Egbuson vie for the prestigious award.
Noteworthy social content creators like Sabinus, Kiekie, and Layi Wasabi also earned nominations, alongside popular BBNaija stars Phyna, Mercy, and Beauty, competing for the title of Most Popular BBNaija stars. The stage is set for an electrifying celebration of excellence in African entertainment at NET Honours 2023.
