Gunmen allegedly strangled Fatima Bukar, the daughter of Bukar Abacha, in her residence in Gidan Dembe area of Maiduguri.
Bukar Abacha is a lawmaker representing Ngala constituency in the Borno house of assembly.
Spokesperson for the police in Borno State, Kamilu Sani confirmed the incident.
“We received a report on the killing, but whether it was gunmen that committed the culpable homicide or not is yet to be ascertained,” he was quoted as saying on the cable.ng.
“The incident occurred at about 0700hrs. The police have already commenced a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing as well as arrest and bring the perpetrators to book.”
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication in the Lake Chad region, stated, “The lawmaker’s daughter was strangled to death.”
According to the publication, the victim’s husband brought her corpse to the police station. Her body was discovered at her house with her legs and hands tied behind her back. Alongside her body, her two-year-old daughter was found crying.
Makama also mentioned that the Gwange police division evacuated the corpse to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for an autopsy and further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Leadership reports that the Borno State Police Command has arrested Adam Alhaji Ibrahim, the husband to the deceased, Fatima Bukar. Governor Bangana Zulum has ordered an autopsy on the deceased.
