The Federal Government has announced the closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
In a statement from the Ministry of Works, the bridge will be closed starting from midnight on Saturday, October 21, to midnight on Sunday, October 22, for essential repairs.
The Federal Controller of Works, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, stated that the government was prepared to commence comprehensive rehabilitation work on the bridge, beginning with repairing critical sections.
“The Federal Government intends to conduct thorough repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge. To ease the current difficulties faced by commuters, we will carry out immediate repairs on the most severely damaged sections along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday, Oct. 22, as part of the preparations for the comprehensive repair works,” Kesha affirmed.
She urged motorists to collaborate with traffic management officials, following diversions as instructed to ensure smooth traffic flow.
“During the palliative works, the Adeniji bound of the bridge will be closed to traffic from Saturday, Oct. 21, until Sunday, 22nd midnight. Motorists are encouraged to explore alternative routes where available,” she added.
