A Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos remanded Victor Abayomi, former chef of ex-Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, for allegedly stealing valuables worth millions at Ambode’s Ikoyi residence.
Allegations and Arrest
The court’s Chief Magistrate, Peter Nwaka, ordered the defendant’s remand for 30 days in Ikoyi Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until April 8 for investigation and presentation of facts.
Charges and Accusations
Abayomi, facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, allegedly committed the offences along with others still at large at the residence of the former governor, as stated by Joshua Babalola, a legal officer with the State Security Service, SSS.
Babalola alleged that Abayomi absconded to Osun State after stealing valuable items worth millions of naira from Ambode’s Ikoyi residence. The defendant was apprehended by Ambode’s SSS on March 7 in Molorundo Local Government Area, Osun State.
According to Babalola, the accused’s actions contravene sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
