“The military views every civilian death in the cause of operations as a tragedy.” The acknowledgment came as various leaders and organizations responded to the unfortunate event.

The DHQ highlighted the challenge of terrorists deliberately blending with civilian populations. This can lead to unintended civilian casualties. Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, visited Tudun Biri community, expressing regrets and apologies for the mishap. He explained the misinterpretation of activities leading to the drone strike, ordering a comprehensive inquiry into the incident to identify deficiencies.
Community and Government Responses
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu called for calm and directed relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. Expressing condolences to victims’ families, he emphasized the need for swift medical attention for survivors.
Kaduna State government officials, led by Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, visited Tudun Biri village to commiserate with victims’ families. The District Head of Rigasa acknowledged the Nigerian Army’s integrity in accepting responsibility for the drone strike.
The Jama’atu Nasril Islam , JNI, condemned the incident, expressing disbelief at the military’s actions. The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF called for a thorough probe and compensation, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar urged a comprehensive investigation.
