The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Sunday Osagie and Ayodele Adeolu, for their alleged involvement in the robbery of l skitmaker Ekwutousi Philo.
The arrest came after Philo’s viral video accusing policemen of robbing her in the Alapere area of Ketu, Lagos State, on October 20.
RRS Swift Response
Responding swiftly to the viral video, the Rapid Response Squad, RRS unit of the Lagos Police Command initiated a thorough investigation.
RRS apprehended Osagie, a former spy/mechanic, and his accomplice, 45-year-old Adeolu. The arrest was made based on the video evidence that featured Osagie alongside the skitmaker.
Details of the Arrest
According to the RRS statement, Osagie, 31, had been employed as a Spy/Mechanic by the Lagos State Government since May 2011.
However, he was dismissed from the Lagos State Public Service and de-kitted in April 2023 for various offenses, including “absence from duty for six months without permission, illegal duties, and extortion of money from innocent citizens.”
Alongside Osagie, Ayodele Adeolu was also apprehended. Additionally, the police recovered a ‘korope’ with the registration number LA 910 FST and a Toyota Yaris Verso with the registration number FST 656 JD.
Transfer to Lagos Police Command
The suspects and the seized vehicles have been transferred to the Lagos Police Command for further investigations, as directed by Commander Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi. The Command continues to probe this high-profile case to ensure justice prevails.
“Based on a viral video from a skit maker, Ekwutousi Philo, alleging that she was robbed on 20th October 2023 along Ketu – Alapere Highway by some policemen, the Decoy Team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested Sunday Osagie, 31, who was captured in a video with the skit maker.”
