A total of 29 candidates have picked forms expressing interest in contesting for Kogi State Gubernatorial elections billed for November 2023.
Newshawkng.com gathered that 19 candidates picked interest form in the All Progressives Congress, APC while 10 politicians from the opposition party picked interest form.
Current Governor, Yahaya Bello is serving out his final term. Chief among those contesting to replace him are; from the APC, current deputy governor, H. E Edwin David Onoja. Others are former Kogi Senator, Smart Adeyemi and James Faleke, who just won reelection to the House of Representatives, to represent Ikeja Federal Constituency in Lagos State.
The rest are Abdulkareem Mohammed Jamiu, Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, Ahmed Usman Ododo, Barr. Salami Momodu O. Deedat, Alh. Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, Halima l. Alfa, Prince Shauibu Abubakar Audu, Sen. Yakubu Oseni, Momoh Jibrin, Alh. Yusuf Yakubu Okala, Hon. Asiru Idris, Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, Abubakar Yahaya Achimugu, Idachaba Friday, Salawudeen Abdulkudus, and David A. Jimoh.
From PDP, Senator Dino Melaye leads the pack while others aspirants are Sen Attai Aidoko, Barr Kebiru Usman, Alh. Abdullahi Haruna SAN, Barr. Reuben Atabo SAN, Gideon Ojata, Engr. Musa Wada, Engr. Bolu Femi, Arch. Yomi Awoniyi, Idoko Lona, Idah.
According to SaharaReporters, primaries are scheduled for between March 27th and April 17th, 2023.
The 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 November 2023 to elect the Governor of Kogi State.
