Spokesman to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Habib Saleh Muhammad, confirmed that the former Kano State governor and his political camp have decided to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal challenges and limited time ahead of the 2027 elections.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Sunday, Muhammad said stakeholders across all local governments held extensive consultations before reaching a unanimous decision.
“We held various discussions with stakeholders across all local governments in the state, and they unanimously agreed that we should leave the ADC,” he said.
He added that persistent political and legal disputes within the party drove the decision.
“The continued political, rather than legal, issues within the party, along with the limited time available to submit the register, conduct primary elections, and other processes, influenced our decision,” he explained.
Muhammad said internal party dynamics also prevented the camp from preparing effectively for the next election cycle.
“We agreed to move to a different platform so we can properly contest and participate in the 2027 election cycle,” he said.
He also disclosed that Kwankwaso would soon make an official announcement.
“So it’s true. Our national leader will announce an official position tomorrow, and that should address your question,” he added.
