Tatton Brewery, located near Tatton Park Knutsford in the United Kingdom, has announced its sudden closure, citing ‘unprecedented increases’ in the cost of living, fuel prices, and raw materials. After 14 years of brewing beer sold across venues in the North West, the family-run brewery revealed on social media that it would be shutting its doors permanently next week, deeming remaining open ‘no longer viable’.
Emotional Farewell on Social Media
In a poignant Facebook post, the brewery’s team expressed the emotional decision to close down, stating that the business had ‘come to the end of the road’. The closure was attributed to soaring costs alongside owner Gregg Sawyer’s desire to step back due to family responsibilities.
The original post read: “After 14 years of brewing, we’ve come to the end of the road. With unprecedented increases in the cost of living, fuel prices, raw materials, and many other factors, coupled with Gregg wishing to take a step back from the business due to family responsibilities, it is no longer viable for us to carry on.”
