Past Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in his first post-presidential interview, dismissed notions of nostalgia. He also denied claims of government manipulation by alleged cabals.
Muhammadu Buhari, reflecting on his time as president, emphatically states that he does not miss the role. In response to a question about what he misses, he dismissively says, “Miss? Oh dear me, I don’t think I miss much.” This revelation comes during his interview with the Nigeria Television Authority NTA.
Dismissing Cabal Allegations
Addressing the widely held belief that his government was influenced by cabals, Buhari refutes the claims, suggesting they were mere imaginations of the Nigerian populace. When asked directly about the alleged interference, he responds, “It must have been (imagination).”
During the interview, Buhari sheds light what he does with time these days.
“I am so preoccupied with the local problems that I hardly think about the external problems.”
Desperate to Leave Office
In a candid disclosure made in December 2022, Buhari expressed his eagerness to leave office and return to his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.
He shared his anticipation of handing over power to the next president after the 2023 election, emphasizing his desire to stay away from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, to avoid potential issues post-office.
