The high court in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, handed down a judgment on Wednesday, ousting Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III from the position of the Soun of Ogbomoso.
The court deemed the selection process illegal and directed the newly installed Soun to vacate the throne.
The court, which had reserved judgment until October 25, addressed a lawsuit challenging Oba Olaoye’s selection for the role.
On September 8, 2023, the Oyo State Government had proclaimed Olaoye as the new Soun and crowned him king. Before becoming king Olaoye had his background as a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.
