The Senate has confirmed Ola Olukoyede as the substantive chair of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
During the screening process in the “committee of the whole,” the nominees answered questions posed by senators in their respective fields and addressed issues assigned to them by President Bola Tinubu.
Olukoyede emphasized, “There will be no sacred cows in the war against graft. Anyone suspected of involvement in financial crimes will be investigated and prosecuted, regardless of political party affiliation.” He further explained, “If you are in the ruling party and you engage in financial misconduct, you will be held accountable. Similarly, if you are in the opposition and are involved in any wrongdoing, you will face scrutiny.”
He underscored that the mandate given to EFCC by the law does not discriminate, ensuring a fair and unbiased approach in their pursuit of justice.
Muhammad Hammajoda was also confirmed as the secretary of the EFCC, while Halima Shehu as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
