Nigeria’s minister for Finance, wale Edun, has assumed the role of Chairman of the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank.
The new role was first on social media. In a statement issued on X, the ministry of finance says it is first time a Nigerian is heading the African Governors’ Forum in 60 years of their existence.
Wale Edun who is also Coordinating Minister for the Economy, resumed the position on Saturday.
In their statement on X, the Ministry emphasized the significance of this historic appointment.
“The appointment presents a unique opportunity for Nigeria and the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“Nigeria’s Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has been appointed to Chair the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank. “
“This marks the first time Nigeria has assumed the role of Chairman in 60 years.”
The African Governors’ Forum plays a vital role, fostering dialogue between African finance ministers, central bank governors, and the World Bank.
