Troops from Operation Hadarin Daji successfully rescued seven female students of Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State, along with three construction workers who had been abducted by bandits last Friday. A top military source disclosed to Channels Television that during the military rescue operation, an additional ten individuals, including three construction workers, managed to escape from captivity.
Thanks to the ‘swift response’ of the land and air components of the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadarin Daji, a total of 13 students and three construction workers, who were involved in university projects, have now regained their freedom.
The source elaborated on the rescue operation, stating, “Some were intercepted by the military, while others managed to find their way back to the school authorities.”
The identities of the 13 rescued students are as follows:
– Rukayya Sani Batola, studying Education Chemistry (200 Level)
– Merry Monday, pursuing Microbiology (300 Level)
– Maryam Salawuddeen, majoring in Accounting (300 Level)
– Salamatu Jummai Dahiru, studying Microbiology (200 Level)
– Fiddausi Abdulazeez, specializing in Education Biology (200 Level)
– Amamatullahi Asabe Dahiru, focusing on Education Chemistry (200 Level)
– Ketora Bulus, enrolled in Education Physics (100 Level)
– Felicia Sunday, pursuing Computer Science (200 Level)
– Jamila Ahmad, studying Biochemistry (200 Level)
– Aisha Aminu Ujong, an Education Physics graduate
– Mariya Abdulrahman Usman, majoring in English (400 Level)
– Usaina Abdulrahman, enrolled in Education English (100 Level)
– Sa’adatu Aminu Abubakar, specializing in Education Biology.
The three construction workers rescued from GUPRAN Engineering Services Ltd are identified as Mustapha Abdullahi, Kamalu Shuaibu, and Ishaq Idris.
Sources had previously told Channels Television that the bandits had split into several groups, with the intention of relocating some of the kidnapped students to a forest in Niger State, while others were headed to the Magami axis, where they encountered military personnel stationed along the route.
